ABOUT US

The Scottish Cooking Experience

The Scottish Cooking Experience was born from a desire to return to the roots of Highland tourism - welcoming travellers into your home, sharing stories, traditions, and a true taste of local life.

I’m Anna, and I grew up on the Isle of Skye, surrounded by the traditional music, Gaelic  language, and rich culture that make this part of Scotland so special. The Highlands aren’t just my home - they’re part of who I am.

When I’ve travelled myself, the most memorable moments were never about ticking off the top tourist attractions - they came from connecting with locals, sitting at their kitchen tables, and learning from them directly. That’s the spirit I wanted to bring home to Scotland.

What I’m offering is something truly different - an invitation into our culture through food, conversation, and connection. I’m so excited to share what I know, and equally eager to learn from every guest who walks through the door.

Your host

We begin with ‘The Scone Class’, a nod to a timeless favourite. Scones stir up plenty of opinions - jam before cream or the other way around? However, nothing beats making your own and enjoying them fresh from the oven. You’ll sit down with a cup of tea, your warm scones, and a group of fellow travellers from all over the world, all drawn here by a shared curiosity about Scotland.

While we bake, conversation flows naturally. We might talk about Scottish history, ancestral roots, the Gaelic language, or Highland life - whatever sparks interest. The result is not just a delicious treat, but a deeper connection to the culture and people of the Highlands.

My vision is to expand the experience with more traditional recipes - both savoury and sweet - and offer a range of hands-on classes. Alongside the baking, you’ll hear authentic Scottish music spanning various genres, and even have the chance to browse a selection of prints created by my husband, a local artist. Of course, there will be other beloved Scottish goodies to sample too!

This isn’t just a baking class. It’s a genuine Scottish experience - warm, welcoming, and full of flavour.
